Looks like Non Sequitur is the champion NFL team picker around here...

I just reviewed the old thread and Non Sequitur offered both Steelers and Green Bay as potential Super Bowl winning teams (back in October).

No one else even mentioned either team.

Congrats to Non Sequitur!

Seems to have been some interesting commerical debuts there. Anyone have any comments on the commercials?

(I find superbowl ads ten times more interesting than any silly football game!)

Here's some links:

Looks like Volkswagen's "Darth Vader Kid" ad and Chrysler's "Detroit" ad are making the biggest buzz. I've seen all the commercials and I must admit that the "Darth Vader Kid" ad was priceless. I didn't like the "Detroit" ad at all and it turns me off Chrysler even more than ever - I guess chest-thumping emotional-ego-shit doesn't appeal to me.

I also liked the "Best Buy" ad with Ozzy and Beiber - if only for the Canadian Kid showing he's got spunk in spoofing himself. Kid seems like he's got his head screwed on right and that's a real refreshing change for teen celebrities.

And I think the "Bridgestone Beaver" ad was very cute and likeable, though I normally don't like the 'cute animal' in ads - I recognize that ads are all about emotions and 'cute animals' tend to be very effective at pushing emotional buttons.

The two Doritos commericals seem to be quite popular, but I didn't like either of them and despite the fact that I previously liked Doritos - I now hate Doritos due to these idiotic ads.

This isn't unusual - ads rarely ever make me "like" a company or brand, but a bad commerical can certainly make me hate a particular brand forever - Smirnoff for example pissed me off about ten years ago and I never bought that product again even though it was my most common brand for many years.

Btw, here's a 'ranking' of viewer responses to the ads:

I enjoyed the Racing Beetle ad by Volkswagon and the Kia Optima Michael Bay tribute ad. More art than ad for both of them. Good stuff.
