There are still about 5 different holders of that title every decade.

Ryan Briscoe(*) is almost ten times faster

I'm kidding of course.

(*) Just in case : the guy with the fastest qualification time in the Indy 500 of 2012 with 226.484 mph, i.e. 9.7 times faster than ole' Usain.

Women's football.

Japan (who are world champions) beat France in the semi-finals and will play Canada or the USA in the final.

So, this evening, a very important derby - Canada v USA in the semi-final, for women.

May the best toam win.

Well done, New Zealand!

A gold medal for every 1 million people.
An absolutely fantastic achievement.

True sports fans have registered this fact - it's the occasional sports fans who don't bother with performance divided by population.

Sports that are arbitrarily decided by judges should be just exhibition sports in the context of the Olympics. That system just begs for nationalism, nepotism and corruption.

How else are you supposed to decide on the winner in such sports, unless by that system?

And is there something in the word 'Olympic' that that rules out such sports?

No winners. Just an exhibition.

Yes, the concept of fair play. There can be no fair play with a jury system (as has been demonstrated quite a few times in Olympic history including in these games).
