how can we measure whether the country is big or not? through :
1. the amount of population?
2. how wealth the country is?
3. the technology sophistication?
minimally you have to meet 2 conditions above, right? so czech now is wealthy and have a technology sophistication. so i assume czech is included as a big country too. sorry if you dissagree but this is a true. thank you all.

I'm only talking about population, which is why I said the bigger nations would be more likely to win the trophy. The word 'nation' usually means people.

yeah, but like you and people said no guarantee that a big population will always triumphant on sport. the smaller countries can also take a part. that's it.

PS : okay there is a big different between big nations and the great country. I would say that czech is a great nation or great country. thanks

So-far England have done very well in Euro 2012. They have won their group.

Before the championship, Roy Hodgson was appointed coach - many people wanted Harry Redknapp.

If we get into the semi-final, and people are still criticising Roy Hodgson, I guarantee that those people will be fans of Harry Redknapp.

England have only been in the European Championship semi-final twice in its history, and there have been 14 European Championships, including this one.

Portugal and Germany are in the semi-finals, as usual.

There have been 7 World Cups/European Championships in the 21st century, and Portugal have got to 4 semi-finals and Germany have got to 5.

I'm especially impressed with Portugal, since they only have about 10 million people.

So I think Portugal have been Europe's true, greatest football nation in the 21st century.

Magnificient, Portugal!

Today we have a sparkling derby between France and Spain, and tomorrow... I'm so nervous I'm shaking like a jelly - England v Italy!

For the local Toronto soccer fan-base, you just can't get any bigger or better than a game between England and Italy. That's as big as it can get!

The game's on at 2:45 this afternoon.

Spain v Portugal today.
It has the potential to be a wonderful spectacle with two of the most passing teams in Europe.

Spain are the superior team, but Portugal have got one great player, namely Ronaldo. He is brilliant!

Spain won it, so well done to them. I have nothing but admiration for Spanish football, after they have won 3 major trophies in a row.

And every player in the team is Spanish through and through.
