Default Russia wins world hockey championship

Like I said before, hockey is OUR sport! Sorry, Michael and the other Canadians here, but this is Russian revenge for 2010!

Now, if our "Babushki of Buranovo" can win Eurovision

which they should on originality alone, all will be great

Hmmm - I'm wondering if you're a fair weather fan - you're not the remotest bit interested in sport, but when the team wins, you'll join in the celebrations and enjoy the glory.

However, congratulations to the Russian ice hockey team, and to all the fans that follow the team in good times and bad.

The Babushki finished second

This girl from Sweden ended first

Personally, I would have given first place to the Babushki. At least they sing their own style, from the heart. But... Europe like that stupid pop crap

Anyway, a parade across Moscow is being planned for the hockey team, to finish at Manezhnaya Square near the Kremlin. The players will also recieve gold memorial rings, unlike before, in the Soviet times and earlier in Russian history, when sportsmen were normally rewarded with automobiles. But, apparently, the rings will be worth more than some cars

Typical; Europe chooses to put the Babushki in a fantastic 2nd place, and you complain because there was still 1(!!!) position higher. No, you're biased against Europe, no way.

A mob of enthusiastic fans greeted the Russian National Hockey team on arrival at Moscow's Sheremetievo Airport

Not long after, the team was driven around the capital on a roofless double-deck bus

Thousands of cheering people were lined up along the way

Liza Datsyuk rode with her father, the team's Captain, Pavel

It culminated at Manezhnaya Square, where the team was congratulated and Russian hockey was celebrated

Later yet, they all went to Putin's residence at Novo-Ogoryovo, near Moscow, where he personally congratulated them in private, and awarded them each the title "Distinguished Master of Sport", and they gave him a player's (Yevgeny Malkin's) sweater, signed by all the players

The head coach, Zinetulla Bilyaletdinov, on behalf of the team, tried also to give him one of their gold medals

But Putin refused this, saying he did not win it.

See, Nick, he is honest, he does not take titles he did not win lol
