Quarter-finals;
-
Portugal v Poland 1-1 after extra time, Portugal won on penalties. The Polish team bows out, but is acclaimed in Poland for having delivered their best performance in 30 years.
-
Wales v Belgium 3-1. A major surprise, as Wales go into the semi-finals.

And today it's Iceland vs. France.

Yesterday's quarter-final; Germany v Italy 1-1, after extra-time, Germany won on penalties.
Germany will play, in the semi-final, against the winner of France v iceland, which, as Tom Palven has pointed out, is today.

Sniff, my underdog is 0-4 down to France.

No more interested.

*1-4 just now but that won't be enough.

France v Iceland 5-2 (quarter-final) - France will play Germany in one semi-final, and Wales will play Portugal in the other one.

Well done Iceland anyway. That last goal was a beaut.

Indeed, Iceland, with only about 350,000 people deserve all the praise that's coming their way. Absolutely phenomenal!

Might have been fun to have a Wales vs Iceland final matchup!

Portugal, France and especially Germany have all got wonderful histories as football teams, though Portugal seem to have woken up in the year 2000, when they started reaching lots of semi-finals. Wales haven't, but of course, they have a very small population, about 4 million. Portugal's population is 10 million, but they've punched above their population weight in the last 16 years. During this century, they've now reached the semi-final in most of the big competitions they've been too, so over the years they've churned out top teams, despite their modest population.

However, that's history - if we're talking about the current situation, I'd say Germany are the best team of those four. France are second, and then, Wales ahead of Portugal in my opinion, despite Portugal's much superior history as a football team.

Whoever wins the France v Germany semi-final will, I'd say, be the favourites in the final, whether that is against Wales or Portugal.
