+2 for The Cure for being like an old friend, and marvelous songs like "Watching Me Fall" and "Closedown"
+1 for Tool, for past glories of a time before someone musically castrated them. The old redeems the new.
-2 for Nirvana for making it seem cool to have no talent
-1 for Aerosmith for making it seem cool to let a mutant front your band

I was gonna let Bon Jovi have it first and foremost, but I see you all have that pretty much covered already.

Now they just seem like some generic Christian Rock band - all clean and no edge.

Btw, it is amusing that U2 was fantastic while they were veritable unknowns from Ireland. But Joshua Tree is their first really big success in the US market. I can think of several other bands that follow the same pattern - fantastic creativity right up until they find success in the US market and then they become crap.
God Tier: Boy, War, The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby

Good Tier: The Unforgettable Fire, Zooropa

Mid Tier: All That You Can't Leave Behind, October

Bottom Tier: How To Dismantle A Atomic Bomb

Shit Tier: No Line On The Horizon, Pop

+2 to Jefferson Airplane for White Rabbit!

+2 for The Beatles. I know they are the obvious choice in most of these things but really I can't think of any other group that has produced such a huge amount of absolute classic songs.

+1 to Pink Floyd. So many five star albums. I always think they don't get enough respect. On VH1's list of the top 100 artist they only got 25 which is criminal and only Darkside Of The Moon was on their top albums at 50 or something which just blows my mind.

-2 for writing variations of the exact same music over and over again.

-1 for ZZ Top. Because it's just awful.

Okay.
Who ?
Robert Johnson, BB King, Django Rheinhardt, Philippe Cathérine, etc., etc.... are all great pioneers, virtuosi and song writers but if one works real hard and has some talent, one can play exactly like them. But nobody has ever played Hendrix à la Hendrix. The intuitivity, feel, touch, magic is uncomparable and unmatched to this day.

I rest my case.

I don't memorize the titles of music I don't like - normally, I don't even know the name of the musicians I dislike the most.

Suffice it to say 'all of it'. It all sounds the same to me - hideous - like fingernails on a chalk board.

Ask Greendruid - he's a fan and has subjected me to that monstrosity of a noisemaker several times.
